my name is steve rackley, i'm a freelance photographer and owner of flat top photos. even though my career was spent in the insurance industry, (with a few years as a professional baseball umpire) my love of photography goes way back to when i was a kid and was first introduced to it in 4-h. for over 10 years sports photography has been a hobby of mine. i was the dad who was always taking pictures of our boys and our teams, wherever that might be. having lifelong friends who are also photographers, and having now retired from the insurance world, i decided to devote my time to photography.
just because a photographer "has a camera and will travel" doesn't mean they are good at everything. i'm a sports photographer, which means i love taking action pictures of athletes during their events. likewise, it's a joy to take the team and individual shots that every parent looks forward to each season. knowing how the camera works, knowing the connections between exposure, shutter speed and lighting allows us to take many other types of photographs, but our foundation is built on sports photography.
3 reasons why you should hire me
1. you are an athlete or a parent of an athlete and want great quality, action photos taken during the game/event
i make these promises to you:
- to have a greater opportunity to capture a larger variety of photos for you, i'll only work with a limited number of athletes per game.
- you'll receive 15-20 professionally shot and edited photos of your athlete. you're able to register and prepay on this website.
- the edited photos will be uploaded to you within 24-36 hours after the event. you will receive a text and an email link to all of the high-resolution, watermark free photos. each of them ready to share, print and enjoy.
2. you represent a team or league (this gives us a couple of options)
- you hire me to take general action pictures of the whole team during the game. we will work together to determine the number of pictures you want.
- you hire me to take your traditional team and individual pictures. these can be with a natural background (inside or outside) or with custom composites made for each person and team.
3. you really like me and just want me to take pictures for you
- as crazy as that sounds, it happens. I've done photos for family/individual portraits, product photography, real estate and pets. Let's have a conversation, you never know where it will lead.
- with either option, you will be able to purchase a wide variety of prints or items with your choice of photos on them
